This year the EFM Congress will be held in the splendid setting of Venice and precisely in the historic and fascinating Molino Stucky, an old mill from the end of the 19th century that overlooks, with all its magnificent grandeur, the shores of the Giudecca island.
Precisely, the Molino was built between 1884 and 1895 on the initiative of the noble of Swiss origin Giovanni Stucky, entrepreneur and financier, whose father had moved very young to Veneto where he had then married an Italian woman Domenica Forti.
About 1,500 workers worked in the Molino who transformed 2,500 quintals of cereals into flour.
In 1895 the Molino was enlarged on a project by the architect Wullekopf (he was the designer of the neo-Gothic façade) and divided into two distinct areas: one – larger and vertically – which included the mill, warehouses, silos and offices, and a second – made up of lower buildings – which housed the pasta factory.
After a long period of crisis, the mill was closed in 1955. In 1994 it was purchased and passed under the Superintendency of Fine Arts. Leaving the neo-gothic architecture unchanged, the mill underwent a long conservative restoration. It should be remembered that in 2003, during the restoration works, the mill was hit by a fire.
Since 2007 it has been operating as a hotel and private residences.
In these 3 days many millers will arrive at Molino Stucky from all over Europe and it will be a pleasure for us, as one of the main sponsors, to spend time together to see old friends and make new ones.
During the Conference, two Mulmix reports will be presented: two brief moments to make known also to the European audience the characteristics and advantages of our CI internal cone silos (with international patent) and one, mainly addressed to Italian customers, dedicated to the tax incentives of the PNRR, which we too are talking about a lot.
